Shorebased Navigation Courses

Sailing Ireland offers the RYA Yachtmaster Coastal & Offshore shorebased navigation courses which is designed to develop the recreational sailor's ability to navigate a sailing or motor yacht on extended  passages by day and by night.

Course Duration

Next course planned  in the Wexford Harbour Boat & Tennis Club. Course will be completed over 8 saturdays. Starting in Jan. 2018
(see upcoming courses page for actual dates)

Cost of the course is €425 euro per student with a 10% discount on the course fee for WHBTC members.
This cost includes Sailing Ireland providing each students with the ISA Yachtmaster Coastal student pack at cost ( value €80).
The pack includes the course textbook, navigation practice charts, tide tables, almanac and course notes as required. Electronic Navigation is included on this course.

This is a very popular and enjoyable course which starts at the basics and works up to the level where

No previous knowledge required as you start from the basics.

Students may receive certification when:

  • They have attended at least 80% of the course.
They have completed all of the assessment papers to a standard acceptable to the instructor.
They have demonstrated an understanding of the principals taught during the course.

The Yachtmaster Coastal or Offshore Shorebased Course Certificates are not prerequisites for the
